Sister, Grade-Banded Schools

Following the outcome of the November 2024 election, in which the proposed 1% Earned Income Tax did not pass, Milford Schools will implement adjustments approved by the Board to adapt to our financial realities. As shared in the October Board meeting, the District is formalizing a shift to a sister, grade-band structure that will take effect at the start of the 2025-2026 school year. While these changes were thoughtfully considered, they reflect difficult choices made to continue providing quality education within our budget constraints.

Transitioning to Sister, Grade-Band Schools:

  • Pre-K – 1: Mulberry Elementary and Pattison Elementary

  • Grades 2 – 3: Boyd E. Smith Elementary and Charles L. Seipelt Elementary

  • Grades 4 – 5: McCormick Elementary and Meadowview Elementary

In a sister, grade-band model, each school is dedicated to a specific range of grades, allowing us to focus resources and support more effectively at each stage of a child’s development. This model also reduces operational costs by consolidating staff, transportation, and resources across fewer grade ranges at each school. By implementing these changes, Milford Schools will maximize efficiency, reduce costs and ensure that every dollar goes further toward enhancing student learning and support.
